Medication

Please note that any specific instructions given to you by Dr. Wallace or his staff supersede the following.

If you are experiencing prolonged bleeding, nausea or intense pain, please contact our office immediately at 519-884-2500 to assess if a post-operative consultation is necessary.

Antibiotics:

If you have been given an antibiotic prescription please take this medication as directed by the pharmacist. Take your antibiotic as directed, until all are gone. If you develop a rash or diarrhea, please call our office.

Tylenol 2 or 3 (Tylenol with Codeine)

DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL OR DRIVE WHEN USING PAIN MEDICATION. PAIN MEDICATION SHOULD BE TAKEN WITH FOOD OR MILK. This medication is Tylenol with codeine. This medication may cause drowsiness and altered alertness. Long term use may cause constipation, so drink plenty of fluids and add fiber and bulk to your diet ASAP. Use as directed by the pharmacist.

If you are experiencing severe pain or breakthrough pain or breakout pain, you may take Ibuprofen / Advil / Motrin (400 mg) every 4 hours in addition to the Tylenol with codeine. This should be taken 2 hours following the Tylenol with codeine dose.
Example;

  • 12:00 pm – Tylenol 3

  • 2:00 pm – Ibuprofen

  • 4:00 pm – Tylenol 3

  • 6:00 pm – Ibuprofen

Toradol (Ketorolac)

This medication is an anti-inflammatory / pain reliever and is in the same family as ibuprofen / Advil / Motrin. YOU CANNOT TAKE TORADOL AND IBUPROFEN TOGETHER. Use as directed by the pharmacist.
If experiencing severe pain or breakthrough pain, you may take Tylenol or Tylenol Extra Strength every four hours in addition to the Toradol.
Example;

  • 12:00 pm – Toradol

  • 2:00 pm - Tylenol Extra Strength

  • 4:00 pm – Toradol

  • 6:00 pm – Tylenol Extra Strength
